Power of Attorney

Acronym: POA

In plain English

A document naming someone to act on your behalf on financial or legal matters.

A **durable** POA remains in effect if you become incapacitated (the most useful kind for estate planning). A **springing** POA only activates upon incapacity. A **general** POA covers broad powers; a **limited/special** POA covers a specific task.
